'[PIC]: i2c not working?'

I'm trying to get an outputsignal, but there comes nothing.
I want to display something on an LCD with i2c, so i think
my PIC must be master.
But i don't even get anything on the two pins (SCL & SDA).
I'm using an 16c67 and i initialised the i2c with:

       CLRF    PORTC
       MOVLW   0x00
       MOVWF   TRISC
       BSF     SSPCON, CKP
       BSF     SSPCON, SSPM3
       BCF     SSPCON, SSPM2
       BSF     SSPCON, SSPM1
       BSF     SSPCON, SSPM0

And then i thought i could just make something
like:

       movlw   B'00011101'
       movwf   SSPBUF

But i must have missunderstood something. Sorry
for that question, maybe it sounds a litte stupid,
but what could i have done wrong?
I'd be happy if i could just see on my Osciloscope.
But there is nothing happening.
I already got some LED's blinking :-) but that makes
me mad.

I hope someone can give me a very short example.

Thanx!

When you were writing this were you facing North, South, East, or West?
Whatever direction you were facing turn around and look at it again.
After all, this is how the PIC is looking at it.  You attempted to use
SSPCON to transmit when it is meant for receiving.  SSPBUF is what was
received from the outside world.

If you don't need to use the PIC as a slave (which you don't need if only
sending info to the LCD), just ignore SSPCON, etc and look at some
examples (probally some on http://www.piclist.com) for transmitting

No RAM page control code.

       CLRF    PORTC
       bsf STATUS,RP0
       MOVLW   0x00
       MOVWF   TRISC
       bcf STATUS,RP0

PORTC and TRISC are on different pages.

I don't know about SSPCON offhand.
