www.emc.com.tw/ (the 8-bit micro)

Seems to be a 13-bit variation on the 12-bit PICs. No personal
experience. If anyone knows where to buy these buggers in small
quantities let me know.

You can try these guys.

http://www.emene.com/English/Elan.htm

I have no experience purchasing from them or EMC, so I don't
know the best route.  Anyone from Taiwan on this list??

0.0383753 US$ according to http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi, so I guess
there is something wrong?)

I don't know if this will help, but

http://babel.altavista.com/

does Chinese to English.  The full translation of the "order" page is:

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?url=http%3A%2F%2Fhttp://www.emene
.com%2FElan%2Fyilong.htm&lp=zh_en&tt=url

I can't help you with the currency exchange though.

Chinese Yuan not Japanese yen. About 55 cents each.

Looks like (mainland) Chinese Yuan. International code: CNY.
About 8 to the greenback when I was over (a month or two ago). The two
prices seem to be for resale and the higher price for end users.

(They offer "free design", presumably for big purchasers.)

Being a taiwanese site, the prices could possibly be in
Taiwanese Dollars or Chinese Yuans (sp?).  For the latter,
my guessitimate is that it'll be less than a buck a piece,
which does not seem unreasonable.  Used to do biz with
China, Taiwan, Japan, etc in a past life, and it's amazing
how quickly the price grows from the catalog in the East
to your door in the West.

Cheers,
-Neil.

The contact address on the site is in Xiamen city, which is in Fujian
province (right opposite Taiwan, but definitely in the People's
Republic of China).

I have an office and factory in Taiwan.

Deja vu for me. Seems that whenever one of these clones pops up, they
are shut down fairly quickly!

It is not a Taiwanese site. The company is located in Xiamen, PRC so
the prices are most definitely in Chinese Renminbi - aka Chinese Yuan.

If anybody is interested, give me model numbers and I'll get quantity
pricing in Taiwan.

Regards,
