'[PIC]: TTL buffers'

I am new to pics and have been having some trouble. I am using a 16F628 to
control a L293D driver which is a TTL device. I tested the circuit with a
16F84 before acquiring the 16F628 and it worked fine. So, not thinking I
assumed that RA0 through RA3 had TTL buffers on the 16F628 like it does on
the 16F84. But it does not. So before I rip my circuit apart and redo it, I
would like some confirmation that this is indeed the problem. If not I'll
look for other errors. Thanks!

If you are using PORTA in a digital mode you have to write

ADCON1 = 7 at the very beginning of your program.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The 16F628 does not have any A/D converters.

A.0 thru A.3 are analog comparators.

Notwithstanding my last comment, the ADCON statement is wrong.  Had my single
cell memory bank locked an an F876.

No, but it has comparators on port A, and they remain enabled out
of reset until you turn them off by initializing the CMCON
register.

Problem solved! It was the comparators. Thanks a lot for your help, you
saved me a lot of time.

No, but it does have Comparators
and CMCON needs to be set to 7 to disable them and return the port to
all digital.
