'[PIC]: Serial loopback on 876'

Hi all,

I am having problems with looping async data between the Rx and Tx pins on
the 876.

I wrote a small program to incr and move into the TXREG a byte at 9600 baud
every 8mS.  The TX byte looks correct and I can also receive it on a computer
as transmitted.

The problem is with the Rx in the 876, the RCIF flag never sets.  I have been
over the 876 reception in the databook several times and I am pretty sure
about the setting in the RCSTA registers.  I am not sure about the state to
configure to the TRISC and PORTC locations for this mode.

Has anyone had same problem or written a small loopback program that works
and I can look at?  Could it be a problem with the ICE-2000 emulator?

Thanks,

Paul

Do you clear the receive registers and the error flags when initialising it?
Check Fr. Macghee's PICUART.ASM for all the reasons why and other gotchas if
you haven't already checked it.
