Hi all,

Whew! Long lunch.

The Pocket now has the abillity to keep a 16 bit serial number tagged to
each HEX file and automatically incremented after each programming
sequence takes place.

This feature can be enabled or disabled and modified under a new menu
item.

Sounds excellent! Do we get a choice of where
in ROM we want the 16 bit number to be placed? ;o)

Can we also choose the font?
Can it be bold or italic?
Variable font size?
Proportionately spaced?

only by using the numbers as an index into the colour table. You are therefore
limited to 16 colours if you are prepared to use hex. :)

Wouldn't that be 256 colors?

Well I was going by digits rather than bytes.

>could I...

You could, if you'd do it the way I did it, which was to have a 32 bit
incrementing counter for serial numbers and the following options:

- At what address to put the serial number
- How many bytes to use out of the 32 bit number (1,2,3 or 4)
- Whether to use the number proper or a hashed version thereof

In every case I had the program append a single line to a log file,
containing the date and the number written, plus the counter value. I
could also set the starting number. There is more detail on this in
previous postings of mine to the piclist (some months ago).
