We are looking at moving to the 17C and 18C parts for some new products.

Is anybody using the Microchip ICE-2000 on NT4.0?  Did you have to do anything
to get the parallel comms to work reliably?

Overall impressions?

Thanks.

Andy

Andy,

I have been using the ICE-2000 with NT4.0 (for he 18C452 target) for a few
months now, and everything set up and ran fine.  I did not need to do
anything special to get the parallel comms to work reliably, I just
installed MPLAB and the MPLAB-C18 compiler and was writing code in no time.

The only complaints I have with it are that single stepping takes forever,
and I have not found out how to get the "step over" function to work.
Other than that, I have no complaints...(well, besides compiler "features"
that I am discovering since I am new to this whole scene...hehehe)

Hi Andy,
Just in case you are thinking of upgrading the OS...
I've recently switched from Windows 98 to 2000 Pro. My ICE-2000 and
Picstart+ both seem to work fine (as do my 4 line serial card, USB printer,
mouse, scanner, camera and extra parallel port for my spectra autorouter).
I've found W2K to be generally much more stable then 98.

I found that single steeping was slow when I had the source code window in
focus, If I change focus to the code window, it is fine ???

Also, using Hi-Tech C, I add "-fakelocal" to the command line parameter in
the settings
