'[PIC]: Drop-in Serial Code?'

Hello,
I remember reading on the list sometime back someone said they used
someones *drop-in serial code* for all their serial projects. They
described it as you just change a few things (speed and pin settings
etc...) and drop in right in your code probably as an include file. Best I
remember it was bit-bang only code. Anyone remember who's code this was
and where to find it? I looked in the archives but could find what I
remember reading.
I'm looking to read a NMEA 0183 data stream from a GPS and pull out current
speed. If any has code or tips for this it would also help!
Thanks,
Dale

You're probably thinking of Fr. McGahee's PICUART code, which is a drop in
tutorial that uses the hardware USART. It's a great read, and excellent code
to boot. I have a copy on my site:

I have "drop in" serial code that uses the hardware UART. It has software
FIFOs for transmit and receive. See the file QQQ_UART.ASPIC at
