Analog Devices ships their samples from Taiwan and they arrive practically
overnight.  Of course, perhaps not everyone would want to spend as much in
shipping as AD.

I've thrown out the packing slips from recent sample orders, but I think
the delay is Microchip's fault- once shipped they should only take a couple of
business days (which can stretch into 4 days around holiday weekends).

Hi,
Most of the time, my experience is that the estimaetd shipping date
doesn't really hold true. However, parts so far have gotten to me in three
weeks around there. However so far i have not been getting really exotic
parts, mainly 18F452s

Just to throw another story onto the pile..
I ordered some microchip samples and they were delivered to my door in
about 3-4 days from the date of order, and I'm in the US. I think the
actual shipping was 2 days from when it left their Taiwan warehouse.
