Hi.
Is the ENC28J60 released ?

It seems as that you can by modules like the
"EDTP FRAME THROWER" today !?
See : http://www.edtp.com/ .

I've had no luck listing the device on
buy. (or sample.) microchip.com...

If you take a close look at the picture, you'll find a "ES" on the device
code. That's a ENGINEERING SAMPLE, so the overall behavior of the device may
present some bugs... It depends on which version of ES they are using.

No, but engineering samples have been available for a year.

OK, fine, just what I thought.

So EDTP can build and sell modules based on
ES parts then...

Maybe.  I'm not going to believe it until I see it for sale.

I have no idea what EDTP is, but I wouldn't blindly ship ES parts.  I'm
seeing a symptom that might be due to a problem in the ENC28J60, but it
could also be in the dsPIC code driving it.  We are planning to not ship
product with ES parts, and have recently scaled back an earlier order
because of that.

Quite likely if the professionalism of the rest of the company matches their web site.  Sorry if that sounds harsh but, but it doesn't inspire confidence.  Neither does the "Powered by CCS" quote.  Personally I power my PIC's using electricity...

Regards

Mike

I've bought some mounted boards and parts from them in the past.
Very nice people, great usefull boards. Helped me a lot when doing
research for our Ethernet based products.

I don't know if the ENC28J60 they're using but as they primary
market niche is hobbyists and researches I don't see any problem if
they're using engineering samples. Probably is faster to obtain an ES
ENC28J60 from them than from Microchip and their distributors.

    Best regards,

    Brusque
