'[PIC:] 18F errata issues'

Ok, with all the various issues wit the 18F parts, which ones actually
work as advertised?

If I understand correctly:

18Fx58 have a problem crossing the h4000 boundary
18Fxx20 are unreliable above 4mHz

Right?
Is that all... or is there more I'm missing?

Which 18F parts actually work as advertised?

I don't want to be down on Microchip, I've been using 16F parts for a
couple years without significant problem. But now I have a project
that needs more horsepower than the 16F877 can give me.

Hi Denny,

The PIC18F452 would be a good upgrade choice for the PIC16F877 in my
opinion. I would start with the C0 errata devices if you can get them (I
hope they are out on the distributor's shelves by now).

The PIC18F452, *seems* to me one of the more mature PIC18F devices, but you
would really have to spend the time perusing the errata documents or contact
Microchip to make the determination yourself.

Good luck Denny.

Best regards,

Ken Pergola

I can add to this that the 18Fxx20 skips instructions after TBLRD at random,
you need to insert at least two NOP instructions (I used dw 0xfff).

This cost us several days and is not in the errata.

You saw this on an 18Fxx20, not an 18Fxx2, where it is a documented
errata?
