Hi Guys,
I need some linear bearings and rails to fit to. Can anyone suggest any
suppliers in the UK that are relatively cheap?
I have decide to have a look at building a DIY CNC machine, so any other
suggestions and advice welcome. I will probably use stepper motors, as I
have a few and worm screws.
Best regards

Luis - check our Kevn at Marchant Dice

He advertises heavily on Ebay under a similar name.

Reasonably quality stuff for the price, excellent service and he's a nice
chap to deal with.

Also look at http://www.cnczone.com for lots and lots of homebuild machines,
information and inspiration.

Here's my build so far - not done much more on it but I've got 2 weeks of
looking after the kiddie in the school holidays now so might have to try and
get him interested ;-)

Hi Dom,
Thank you very much for the info, your machine looks very neat and your
linear bearings are exactly what I was looking for.
I will definitely join the Forum.
That Doug Guy seems familiar, is this B&Q in Reading?
Best regards

Consider that seriously.
Age unknown BUT if you want a child to have a serious
capability in life then training / patterning them in life
from about age 0 is often (not always) a good way to achieve
it. This can be very like abuse / brainwashing / xxx if you
let it be and depending on perspectives, and many people are
not able to handle the responsibility that goes with the
power (what's new?) BUT it can be a real force for good
(yada yada ...) ;-).

Everyone has to do something and if they happen to learn to
love to do and become extremely good at any wholesome [tm]
thing then so much the better.

Many if not most of the great achievers were focused on
their adult goals from earliest childhood. Others are just
downright capable ;-).

It's worth serious thought.

I bought some very reasonably priced stepper motors from this place and
they also have rail.

I was taking a look at that site and they have very good prices on the
motors and also the guide rails and ball screws.  I am in the U.S. so I put
one of their part numbers in Google to see if I could find them here.  I got
a link to http://www.slidesandballscrews.com/ which has an even better
selection and also great prices, but they are also in the U.K.

Anyone happen to know who the manufacturer of the guide rails and ball
screws is or where I can get them in the U.S.?
