Ahh sounds like my family motto (to which we seem to maintain indefinitely)

"Buy Expensive - Sell Cheap"

I have learnt recently it is not necessarily the value that you put on it
that is important but the value that the person 'searching' for that one
thing would put on it that is important.

However, something you might ALL want to know about is Freecycle.
Freecycle is a global email list (A yahoo group) that is separated into
regions (presently I subscribe to Auckland Freecycle and previously to the
Bournemouth UK freecycle)

Basically it is a place to GIVE AWAY items that you think will be of use to
others but you either can't be bothered to sell or essentially isn't of
great value but would be of use to others.
I have picked up computing books and electrical items from it on occasion
and have 'donated' furniture and well heaps of 'stuff' when we emigrated.
The great thing about it is that good feeling of making someone happy
knowing you've just made their life a little easier or solved a problem.

It is free to join and can be a handy place to clear stuff out to.

Needless to say, there are occasions when you see the same old names posting
'[wanted] working laptop' or something silly like that and it makes you
wonder if they are going to try to sell it again, however there are no
obligations, and you can choose out of the emails you receive, who you'd
like to give something to. So, in the grand scheme of things its pretty
cool.

I hope that isn't too much of a plug for something!!!???

Cheers

Chris

Yes, I can fully recommend Freecycle as a growing worldwide effort to
save all manner of articles from incineration or landfill.

So far, I have managed to give away plenty of 19" rack mounted studio
equipment, low spec PCs, peripherals etc., and have gained an 8'x6'
greenhouse and a child's climbing frame!

The email list generates constant heavy traffic, so be poised with your
filters to avoid your inbox getting swamped.

Matt
