One doesn't have to know anything about relocatable and absolute coding to
make posts similar to Herdsman's. A post like that can easily be composed by
going back through Olin's posts, "looking for dirt". I don't program in
Assembler, but I am well aware that Olin is a champion of relocatable code,
and I can name a number of his other personal and professional traits.

"Methinks the lady doth protest too much".

Do you genuinely think that that argument of what MIGHT have
happened is even marginally plausible? Really?

I'm wondering if the Herdsman could be James Newton. The Herdsman made
a passing reference about "the previous list owner" at one point.

Methinks the lady doth an appropriate amount of protesting. BTW, you're
misquoting Shakespeare.

Russell, you seem to be getting very emotional about this. Please don't take
my words out of context (ellipses can be used to make your posts look
foolish, too). I said that "He's not familiar enough with PIC programming to
talk about relocatable and absolute coding" does not prove that
Mongol_Herdsman != Tomás_Ó_hÉilidhe. Thanks to the archives, I can pretend
to be you, and nobody would know the difference.

Of course, I don't know *for sure* that MH == Tomas. However, as I said
before, I have reasons to believe that he is, and I am yet to hear Tomas
deny the connection.

One thing I don't understand is why *you* get so upset about it. Shouldn't
Tomas, and not you, become indignant and demand my apology?

Close enough from memory :-).
I don't go and look up every hysterical reference ... :-).
(Maybe I'm going to need to with age).

Internal review ... done ... / I don't think I'm getting
very emotional about it.
Review may have failed though.

I don't think that that was effectively out of context, twas
an attempt to bring the core parts together. Seemed to say
what you seemed to say.

No ellipsises needed for that, I'm sure ;-).

My point was, and my question was meant to address,  while
you can PROTEST that a person could do that, the chances
that T' did are about zilch. Every indication is that that
is far far far from his style.

You seem to be defending your right to abuse somebody
randomly because it's not totally totally inconceivable that
they may have done something.

> Of course, I don't know *for sure* that MH == Tomas.

You certainly don't.

> ... I have reasons to believe that he is ...

I have reasons 'to believe' that all sorts of people are MH.
Or may be. Or ... .

But that doesn't give me cause to insult them on list.

> ...  and I am yet to hear Tomas
>      deny the connection.

And why should he have to do so?
Or why do you need to assume that he has seen your insults
that said he WAS MH.
And why do you think that he would respond rather than just
walk away if he did see them and ignore them - whether he
is/was MH or not.

And
;-)
Why would you think that the admions would let an
*appropriate* reply from T' through the moderation process?

I did ask him fwiw. He says it's not him as I'd expect.

FWIW closest in general style on list is arguably Cc. He
also has neither confirmed or denied and I'm not aware that
he has been asked. Should we now heap abuse on CC for MH's
actions. FWIW (again) I think it is most likely somebody
else who is not a current 'open' list poster. I've asked
them if it is they offlist. If they DO confirm my suspicion
to me I won't be identifying them on list.

__________

Re responses.
The other day I mentioned a Shillelagh.
Seems he would have no need of such an aid if the matter
ever came to a more physical settlement.
Not, of course, that I'm even remotely suggesting that it
would :-).
He's the man in red here.

   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msjISY11J5M

The result went against him, but to my untrained eye both
were about equal and quite competent enough for me to not
want to get anywhere near such action. Doesn't really hurt
while you are doing it, apparently. I was impressed by the
apparent genuineness of the interactions after the fight.
Hopefully we can manage this as well in all cases on
PICList. By the time he gets to Thailand he'll be doing this
without the protective midriff or other softening, except
for the gloves. Seems to me that gloves are not the greatest
of one's fears here :-).

__________

> One thing I don't understand is why *you*

I don't think I'm at all upset.
You want to see upset ??? ! :-)
I reserve upset for special occasions.
It has happened.

> Shouldn't Tomas, and not you, become indignant and demand
> my apology?

That is a separate issue.
Seconds may call. Shillelaghs at dawn or kickboxing?

Tomas is a newcomer to the list.
He has contributed to his own difficulties in getting going,
but has also had Olin attack him very skillfully over time,
perhaps unaware of what he is doing, in a way which is hard
to not rise to when you are young and hot headed. Where he
is to some extent the author of his own misfortunes he can
expect to some extent to hoe his own row. BUT when he has
done nothing at all in a separate area, having people insult
him (and you'd be very very very hard put to argue that he
wasn't being directly insulted) entirely because people
decide that he is MH (and he says he isn't)(and i believe
him)(in part because it is most illogical to think that he
is) then taking people to task over attacking a newcomer
seems appropriate. We have enough expert
necomer-driver-outers here already without the saner list
members joining the band wagon with no cause.

It would be greatly appreciated that you can drop [EE]
tag when when you convert a thread to [OT]. Thanks a lot.

If you keep the [EE] tag in the subject line, those who
subscribe to [PIC] and [EE] tag will still receive it.

And I would say this thread in complete inappropriate. But
I am not an admin.

I bag your pardon but Olin was very helpful at the beginning and definitely
was not arrogant at all. Tomas asked a question which was anwered, then
opened a new topic with the pretty much the same subject, then when it was
answered Tomas opened another one, and another one and another one each one
of them with the very same subject with a slightly differently worded way.
And Tomas refused to continue the conversation on the same topic as was
asked by couple of people here, he refused to try the circuit that was
suggested so I was not surprised that some people lost his/her patients
about him - me either.

The big problem with many yougsters nowaday is that the cyber world let them
say whatever they want to say. They do not have to show their face, they
would not get a big slap or a punch when they are arrogant and they look
even cool by other youngsters when they answer using funny rude words. The
only slap they could get is to get moderated or as a punch to being banned
complitely. But then they can get back using other names - I did not say
Tomas == MH but technically it could happen while in real world when they
lost their crdibility they lost it forever. ANd because of this, people tend
to be more nice and polite to each others when they talk face to face, if
you know what I mean. In real world I am pretty sure Tomas would not name
anybody - I do not know him, how big is he or how good is he in Thai boxing
but I would try my best to introduce my fist in his face if he would trow
all of those on me in person :-)
