'[OT] shipping samples overseas'

I have some PIC's that are programmed for my client to test with...he doesn't have the ability to flash the parts on site, so I'm sending the parts.
The destination is Hong Kong, being sent as samples.
Has anyone from the US sent parts there, looking for the harmonized tariff codes, or does it not matter on samples?

You should have no problem provided you give the proper value (PIC chip value at cost, for example)
and describe the parts as semiconductors. IME, "sample" is not important- what is important is the
value, description and country of origin.
Most commodities are tax-free into Hong Kong.
Probably not required, but the harmonized code is 8542.21.80.71 for PIC16/12 and .72 or .79 for 16 or 32 bit data bus.
If in doubt, ask your client, as they will be the "importer of record".
Best regards,
