And where is a video of this VW actually going fast ?

1450 HP (but, the faster it goes, the more power it makes).
Estimated lift off at 160 mph
Road legal
Two "motors" - one in front and one in back.
Limited passenger capacity I imagine.

Not a guy you want to tailgate... As if you could catch up to him...

I've wanted that accessory a few times.
I did once alter my rear window spritzer so that it blows a significant
amount backward, that seems to work. Also, I can kick on the strobes,
which has a pretty good effect, but I only do that for extreme cases. Maybe
3 times in the last 4 years.

After several rather nasty road range incidents, one of which almost
resulted in both he /and I/ (unfairly I thought) going to jail, I just make
sure I have lots of room in front of me and pull into another lane at the
first opportunity. They can "win the battle" and I know that with 50 to 60
thousands deaths on the road each year, I will eventually win the war.
Besides, I don't need the stress.

What do you do when there's traffic in front of you, a semi on one side, and
a K rail on the other, in narrow construction zone, and idiot boy is
seriously trying to pass?
In this case, I was eventually able to move up enough to let him change
lanes, which he immediately did to the great panic and concern of the semi
driver, then he dived into the first exit nearly causing another wreck.
I have no problem letting these darwin candidates go on to their fate, I
just don't want to be in the debris cone.

Haven't looked at the video yet, but that's exactly what bugs me. You can do
140mph with just a couple hundred hp in an average-weight vehicle (3000-3500
lbs). Whereas the beetle is not very aerodynamic, I would expect a ton more
than 140mph with 1450hp. Something does not add up here.

How fast do you think he can safely drive a VW bug? He's an engineer,
not a racecar driver (and he says as much.) The jet may be capable
of 1300+ HP, but I suspect it spends most of it's time at a low idle,
spraying impressive displays of kerosene out the afterburner.
(how long do you think 22gallons of fuel is going to last at 1300HP
output, anyway. There are LAWS of physics and chemistry involved!)

I think Neil's pointed out the obvious -- this ain't at the axle!
I get more of a kick out of seeing a WRX STi crank 276horses out of a
4-cyclinder 2.5L engine ;-)

This car can go minimum 55 kilometers with a full tank. (calculated as
constant velocity @ 140mph).
Impressive huh ?

The engine doesn't have a gear box so the hp doesn't really count.
Look up a T58-GE-8F and thats the engine. Figure about 700ish pounds
of thrust with maybe 1000 in afterburner. Should be burning about
100+gph in afterburner maybe 60ish out of it.

This thing isn't practical... That isn't the point. It is simply an answer
to the question "where can I stick a jet engine?"
My wife's mother would have said it was a diamond in a pigs ass. That is
less a comment on the relative values of jet engines and VW Bugs, and more a
comment on the relative positions of two things that really don't belong
together.

Pesky tailgaters. Slows down. Gets near. Presses afterburner button.

Is it legal to add a button that turns on the brake lights for no
particular reason ? After all, this is a safety-enhancing measure, no ?

Acceleration ? The jet from the gas turbine should allow accelerations
above 1g horizontal. That would be a great dragster probably.

Any of this stuff CAN cause an accident, though of course you wouldn't BE in
that situation without roger ramjet closer to your rear end than anyone who
hasn't beein introduced should ever be.
Legal, I have no idea. In most cars, you can just barely touch the brakes
and light the lights without actually applying the brakes.
On a related note, 10 and 24 GHz gunn diode sources are relatively cheap,
and easily fool radar detectors with a false "speed gun" indication. Laser
or pulsed IR emitters for the same purpose also exist.
