Has anyone got any experience with touch screen LCD displays? If so what are
the cheapest sources and the easiest way to hook them to a PIC. I would
assume they have a bi-directional serial input/output.
Once I used one 1/4 VGA with matrix touch screen.
It was just a 7x11 matrix so you can use it just like
a 7x11 keypad. They are made by Nan Ya but you can
find them in USA at http://www.hantronix.com

I've used Total Controls touchscreens, you can configure them for RS232.,
RS422, etc. A bit pricey, the smallest one is a 5" monochrome, costs around
$1100.00

oh...forgot to add, the fact it is rated NEMA4, and is used in
a nasty industrial enviroment (mines). SO, I have no problem
paying that much for a product that will last
I would like to know that also,
I am going to build something that goes in my car that will have an LCD
screen
and a keypad, but if I could use the LCD itself instead of a keypad for user
input
that would simplify things dramaticly for me, considering that i have
limmited
dash space. all I need is a screen that can be divided into a 4x4
grid....each
grid space sould have a button drawn it it on the screen, and if your
finger
enters that grid area then the pic thinks you have pushed the button...
maybee
there is a simpler way to do this than with a touch screen...maybee IR
leds and detectors or something.
anyway if anyone finds a source of them let me know please,
thanks,
Ryan

ok ,
I have noticed that all my messages get screwed up,
all the lines wrap around funny when i recive them again.
It is beacause my resolution is at 1600x1200, I try to type
only half way across the screen but it is still to long.
how can I set my mail program up so that it wont do this?
I am useing outlook express.
any ideas?

In Outlook Express, Tools->options->Send
in Mail Sending Format and News Sending Format, choose Plain
Text. In their settings, change the wrap to 60 characters or
65 characters.
Hope this may help.

Right now All Electronics in LA has a wonderful deal on touch screen B&W VGA
display, 640 x 480. It is Sharp LM64194F. Viewing area is about 6" x 4.5".
How to hook up? That I hope to see somewhere!!

Find a hobby shop in your area. If they have one, or can
get you in touch with someone, take a look at a JR PCM-10
radio. Mine is an older model, but the touch LCD is nice.
Also look at the Optrex site/catalog, they have an option for
specifying touch, although I haven't seen any pricing etc for
them.
