From what I've seen in the past, when a list gets somewhat "out of
control" more traffic is generated discussing how to "fix" the problem
(meanwhile the list traffic has gone back to normal) then just ignoring
it and having it stop on its own.

This appears to be true on this list also.  (Including this post.  Heh.)

We're all human, even if we'd like to think we're always calm, cool,
steely-eye'd engineering types with no emotions.  We *will* wander
off-topic from time to time.

I agree with the poster that said the "tag system is not hard"... the
"how do we fix it" discussion is typical of engineers -- trying to fix
things that aren't broken.  (GRIN)

ASCII "fixed" the interoperability problem.  ASCII filters will fix the
"too much interoperability" problem.  (BIGGER GRIN)

Changing tag to "OT" for those who've already figured this out...
