Tests should contain a joke. Or the first line of a limerick perhaps

You know, when you say "do not open", you're pretty much making it
scream to be opened. Reverse psychology?

There is a thing called "message preview".

Maybe in your mail reader. In at least two of the four mail readers I
use regularly, it would be more difficult for me to delete a message
without reading it that it is to "read" AND delete it... (Besides,
if the message is short, I'm not sure I understand how "previewing"
the message is any different than actually reading it...)

Hei... my test has many replies but I don't see my original messages echoed
on the PIClist.
I changed my E-Mail address some days ago and in the Mailman Options the
option "Receive your own posts to the list " is checked, but the problem is
still present...
I Suspect a problem with GMail... any ideas?
Regards,
Marco

I am also using GMail without issues. Check your spam folder ;)
Also, are you using the web client or POP/IMAP?

Well there's your problem. Gmail wont send you a copy of your own
email if you are using a POP client. Use the web client and you'll see
it.

That's dumb. I hope this option is configurable.

I haven't any problem to send e-mail to PicList from the web client
(however, it is a little annoying).
CC to myself could be a bypass... BUT the first search doesn't seem
encouraging, maybe Solarwind says right...:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=522297&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
==> ".....Gmail does not send you messages that were sent from that same
account."
I have tested now that if I send a message to myself from Outlook Express
(and also cc to me) I don't receive it. But if I open the GMail web client,
the message is correctly in the Inbox...
Bah!

Get a domain with a real email address. For instance, I have a
ubasics.com mail account that is forwarded to gmail. Gmail is set up
to send as though it came from the ubasics account.
Gmail seems to react appropriately if I send a mail to myself, but I
suppose since it's traversing another mailserver it treats it
differently.
Notably, when I send an email to myself using the gmail interface, it
appears in my inbox at gmail instantly - it appears that the forward
happens quickly enough that I don't notice a delay. Which is very
nice, as I send information to myself for storage constantly, and I
like to be able to categorize it right after it's sent...

I would like to do this, but my old mail account don't permit this.
I can access via POP3 to the "free" mail only using dedicated number access
(this was ok when I used 64k modem). Now I have an ADSL connection with
another
provider and this isn't permitted: basically, now I can acces to the old
mail only by web interface.
In order to avoid this, the old provider offer a "payment" mail with better
features than the "free" version and that hasn't POP3 access limitations:
but I don't like this...
The solution I thik now is to get a new free mail account from my actual
ADSL provider and to redirect this to GMail.
Sorry for the late reply, I was out of home.

Marco

I'm using my Gmail account to read the messages (POP), but use a
different SMTP server to send the messages. That way, Gmail doesn't
recognize the messages I send as coming from me (as they don't come from
my "Gmail me").
FWIW, many OSes come with a built-in SMTP server. And for the ones that
don't you probably can find one for free.
