Thanks for your advices and your time Herbert Graf, Wagner Lipnharski,
Walter Quitt and Dan Michaels, but....

You all give me interesting advices and IC numbers, but when I go to street,
and looked what I could buy in the stores....
I met a unexpected problem: I lived in a third world country.
Yes, this is a problem I guess you don't have in USA.
I Live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a 12 million people city (so much crowded
as New york, or not?), however, after a very very extensive search in all
the electronics stores I know, and those I find in white pages, I just could
find this ICs:

ICs                        Resolution    Conv time.    Voltage:
Kind                        Price:
AD7521LN             12 bits        500nS           5 to15
Multiplying/Parallel        $21
AD7541JN              12 bits        1000nS        5 to15
Multiplying/Parallel          $24
AD7545JN              12 bits         300nS         5 to15
Multiplying/Parallel         $24
DAC1210LCJ         12 bits        1000nS         5 to15      uP compatible/?
$40

If you are looking for a 13 bit DAC just forget it, that is too much!!!
And one more thing: If you are looking for a serial interface DAC forget it,
too!! There is no 12 bit Serial interface DAC in the market.

And have you looked at the prices? I looked for the AD7545, the one I
finally chose, in http://www.digikey.com and it is about $9.5 !!! Here it cost
$24!!

Have you got any thought or suggestion? (Please, not those like "forget the
electronic stuff and try with a farm")  ;,)

Best Regards, Lute.

I guess I could buy it here and ship for you.
Can I ask you if your application would stand to use R-2R resistor
ladder? I mean, would your application stand a little imperfection at
the output signal, or some small linearity errors? if yes, you could
build your own DAC 12 bits with two shift registers cascaded, or two
parallel latches, and 36 equal resistors. The resistors don't need to be
anything special, they just need to have a very same value, anything
between 8k and 20 kOhms would do it.  If you are interested, just drop
me an email.
Wagner.

Lute,

Is it not possible to order internationally for shipment to
Argentina, or are the import duties, etc, too high for this?

Have the parts sent from the US.
We make them so you should be able to get them.
I recall there are a few people on the list who can help.

GL,
Walt...

Hi

If import duties are high before you choose the farm try first importing SMD
types.
Anybody could send them in a letter.

Fernando
