Since my forbears moved to Texas before it became a state, I think I
can speak with some authority.  Texas declared its independence from
Mexico in 1836 and became a state in either 1846 or 1847 (depending on
whether you pick the date Congress ratified or Texas ratified).  It
was undoubtedly Confederate in the War Between the States (saying the
Civil War is a giveaway that you are Yankee).  In Texas, they definitely
say "yall" for second person plural.  Since New Mexico and Arizona were
mostly settled by Texans and other Southerners in the early days, they
tend to say yall there also.

It wasa pretty even until the Yankees started burning pillaging and raping.
But I guess when you're weaker and dishonorable you do whatever it takes to
win, right?

Do you realize we killed more Americans then than during WWII + Korea +
Viet Nam + ...

No, it's just a matter of which side had the lower negative - nothing plus
about it.  Especially the strong federal govt.

I think this is another very out of topic "political issue", as much
flamable as religion is. It will solve nothing or make no one change
sides or the way to think.  My two cents is to TAKE IT EASY... and by
the way, *any* war is purely an act of aggression, no exceptions.
Self-defense is just a "milliseconds issue", if you will or not wait for
the other part to shoot first, in most cases it doesn't change so much
the agressive picture.

No political and religion discussions, it was agreed or not?

Did you know that:
we have lost more people on our nations freeways than have died in every
war we ever got into!
we kill more people on the freeways every year than died in the Viet Nam
War!

Andy marked the tread [OT]. That's enough for me. If you don't like it...
filter it.... (BTY, if you are one of the people who keep posting off topics
with out adding [OT] or with OT:, <OT> or [WOT] you have no right to
complain IMH(-not)O)

If you don't like that, send Andy a private email telling him to shut up. If
he gets buried, maybe he will. ..or maybe he will drop off the list and then
part of the SIGNAL will be gone forever rather than just buried in the
noise.

Beyond that, only Mark and Jory can say anything about what anybody can or
can't post. If you want more moderating, email them. If they get buried,
maybe they will. ...or maybe they will just get disgusted and drop the
entire thing.

Are you all willing to destroy something just so you can control it
yourself?

I agree with Wagner.

Besides being a "political" discussion (wake up!, wathever you say or write,
the other party is not going to change his/her mind), this is absolutely
uninteresting to those of us that does not live in the USA.

So, please, go private with this.

Actually this thread is of no interest to me and I was born and live in the
southern US.  I contribute very little to this list, and use to gain much.
Recently there have been a few threads that were way way off topic.  I may
go to church, I may vote, I may live in the South (US) - but none of these
things have to do with PIC's.  The occasional OT is interesting and
sometimes humorous - but continuing "one-upmanship" is degrading to the
list.

Apologies to the NESBs and humour-impaired.  They were being *FUNNY*
guys!  Admonish them to use funny-marks ("emoticons") more politically-
correctly.

I have one word for this, CRAP!

People can change thier minds given that they have some intelligence (Are
you indicating that they have none, or is this a phenominom is your part of
the world only?). Placing the facts can help, it is up to us to remvoe and
filter out all the unwanted rubbish and decipher what is real from what is
not. There is a saying in my country that simply says "Even a fool has
something useful to say" The problem of course is when.

If you chose not to say anything about your side of the world then so be it.

As for uninteresting... Yes after a while the crap filter has to go on. You
will get to know those people on the list whom contribute with constructive
critasisim, and those whom don't. Just remember that 50% of the worlds
population rate as morons (Fact, to be a moron you have to have an IQ of
<80. Just remember before you all get your flame throwers in hand, to
construct a consevutive written sentence your IQ must be >moron)

Dennis

PS. I like the OT stuff, keeps my little mind amused (I must have an IQ of
less than 80! <G>)

um, dont you need special permission from microchip to use pics for
medical devices or military use?

this makes me wonder:  pics in space?  how do you design a board for
space? are there any pics in space already? will smt pop off the
board when it gets really really cold? what other design issues are
there?

PICs used for medical and military use are more likely to
need approval by medics and military than 'tuther way
'round.  Been that route with a few things (aerospace stuff)
and it is very situational.  Flight certification is
necessary for some of the components, not others.

According to Microchip, they sent a PIC up attached to John
Glenn (16C73?). Monitored his innards.  Probably his innards
kept it warm (ewww...).

I think this is still just humour.
I think.
I wasn't aware that civil war divisions had any practical modern carry-over.
Just yer (yore?) good 'ol boys having some fun, y' hear.

Now New Zealanders and Oz-tralians (or NZ North vs South Islanders
("Mainlanders") , that's another matter :-))
(Or, for that matter, Aucklanders versus the rest of NZ).

Nah. No agreement amongst engineers.

Not unless you want Microchip to accept liability for damages in such
cases.  And they're only going to grant "permission" if you throw a
*very* large amount of money their way.

All the disclaimer means is that if you design the PIC into a pacemaker
or radiation therapy machine, and someone gets killed, Microchip disclaims
all liability even if a defect in the PIC caused the problem.

What would actually result from a court case is unpredictable.

Almost all semiconductor vendors put these sort of disclaimers in
their data books and such.
