The Biopro chips are made of a flexible resin and are programmed to
harmonize or neutralize the harmful EMF waves that enter the body. The
proprietary programming process activates the chip to coincide with
the specific frequency range of each particular device, ie. cell
phone, motor vehicle or home phone. The activated chip creates an
energy field and has the ability to take a harmful EMF wave and change
it into a harmless wave.

"This is an utterly fraudulent device. Ask eg Consumer's Institute and
probably Commerce Commission. It's an utter ripoff.

Some of his other related material has SOME merit - eg cellphone field
strength meter. Detecting RF energy is fine, should you care. It MAY
even be true that it may do some harm - the jury is still out. BUT
this device does not protect from RF energy in any way.

Cell phone EMF waves emitted by your cellphone are harmful to the

The negative effects of EMFs are cumulative. As a population we have
become slowly conditioned over time to adapt to external stressors
including EMF. Specific correlations have been proven, however, as
there have been many instances of brain tumors the size and shape of
cell phone antennas and tumors on the side of the brain where people
hold their cell phone. In other words, if your are diagnosed with a
tumor or cancer in the brain there is a much higher chance (75%) that
it will be on the side where you hold your cell phone. Study after
study has validated that there is a significant risk and correlation
between EMF radiation and damage to the body.

This type of fraudulent cr*p really does annoy me too, but as you say
nothing is likely to be done about it.  The above passage is so
ludicrous it would be funny were it not for the fact that some people
will belive it :(  We all had a good laugh in the office a few days ago
over some of the claims that are debunked here

That'd be why most rats don't use cellphones then. Smart, eh. Smart

OK, they're just being silly now

The mybiopro tree-huggers are trying to say that water in our cells
is in the form of snowflakes.

I know where I'd be looking for "flakes". Sounds like a job for
the Commerce Commission / Fair Trading Act. Honestly

They've hijacked Dr Emoto's work on "water crystals"

http://www.blackmesatrust.org/breaking%20news.html

"Dr. Emoto talked about his work with water crystals over the
past decade. He has discovered that water is directly affected
by human words, thoughts, and actions, and that water will
show those effects when it is *** FROZEN INTO ICE ***.
Water exposed to Classical music, words of gratitude, or prayers,
will form beautiful, complete crystals"

Well, apparently it does work after all. They have thermographic
images of people's heads after using a cellphone for 15 minutes with
and without their device.

       http://www.mybiopro.com/AU/research_thermoimaging.aspx?ID=healthfirstnz

Even a graph

       http://www.mybiopro.com/AU/research_graph.aspx?ID=healthfirstnz

OK - that constitutes good old everyday fraud. That should be
actionable legally and a matter for the police.
I'll tell them that and see what happens.

Ah - that was the cheap one.
Here they have a $NZ360 =~ $US260 one

Buyer comment;

While this product is obviously snake oil and makes ludicrous claims,
the research information at
http://www.mybiopro.com/AU/research_graph.aspx?ID=healthfirstnz goes
beyond that and constitutes (as far as I can tell, I am not a
lawyer)fraudulent activity. The research does not exist as it is not
possible that the device involved causes the results shown. I will be
referring this ad to the Consumers Institute on Monday and possibly to
the police and possibly to Commerce Commission. I have a contact for
one of the police who monitors trademe activity so I may send it to
him - although it's outside his normal area. I suggest that
withdrawing the ad promptly and not ever resubmitting it is in your
best interests, but of course what you do is up to you.

With luck you yourselves don't realise how bogus this product is and
aren't aware that you are ripping credulous people off. Whether that
is a legal defence for misrepresenting research etc in an ad I don't
know.

That may not be fraud- just stupidity.  Try an experiment: hold a phone
(cellular or otherwise) against your ear for 15 minutes.  Then remove it
and have a passerby touch your two ears and see which one feels
warmer.  I can virtually guarantee that most people will detect warmth
on the "phone side".  Make sure you hold it tightly against the ear!

It's the classical misunderstanding:  causality versus correlation.
The increased temperature would appear even if the user held a
chalkboard eraser against his head.

The thermographs above show head temperature distributions with a
cellphone un use and with and without their device being worn. The
person who made them KNEW that they are utter bunkum. The people who
use them as sales aids may not.

Yup.  In addition, most cellphones get warm when in
use so they tend to warm the area they come in contact
with.

This reminds me of the guy that showed up at my
parents house to do a "free energy audit".  He had, of
all things, a light meter with an inconspicuous bit of
black tape over the logo.  He used it to show my mom
that our windows were terribly energy inefficient and
that we should buy new ones from his company.  I
pointed out that it looked just like a light meter I
had seen in a photography book.  He got very nervous
and departed shortly thereafter.  My mom gave me a
buck for that one!  Pretty good for an 11 year old
kid.  I wonder how many people he suckered with that
one.

I read something just the other day (was it on the PICList?  I don't think
so, but maybe) where someone "in the know" commented that the
single most valuable advancement of medical technology in the last
couple of centuries hasn't been antibiotics or widespread immunization,
but the double-blind test.  Obviously, none of these people have ever
heard of that.

I knew a new-age couple who were interested in things like auras and
Kirlian photography, and once made them an "aura-exciter" based on
a car's ignition coil. The pretty pictures from leaves, fruit, wood etc and
resulting oooohs and aaaahs were satisfying but ever so slightly pathetic

Do you know, everything has an aura when you stick 50,000V up it ? ;-))

And if you stick it to yourself then you can see & feel it it without
wasting any photo paper.
