'[OT] Outlook and Firefox - Help!'

Hi all. At my office, we run Outlook 2003 for email. It's not my
choice, but I can't change it. I do run Firefox though. I have a bit
of a problem now. Whenever I click on a link in an email message, it
opens up in the last window I looked at in Firefox. It's very annoying
as I keep several webpages open to periodically check during the day.
I'd like it to open up in a new window, or at least, a new tab. I know
this can be done...but I'm stumped. I've searched through all my
settings windows, and I've even Googled on this. I've tried changing
my intenet options, and even changing the DDE settings for the
NONE:HTTP file type. No dice.
Does anyone have any idea on how to do this, or at least, some search
queries I could try?
Thanks!
Josh

Go to the options panel (tools->options) and click on "advanced".
Under "tabbed browsing" is a control group where you can select
"Open links from other applications in:
a new window
a new tab in the most recent window
the most recent tab/window"
You want the first or second option checked, not the third. :) I'm
pretty sure that option's been present since the 1.0 release, possible
earlier, but if it's not in yours, you just need to upgrade (for
security reasons as well as this feature).

In tools->options->tabs there's a radio button setting for "Open links from
other applications in:" and the options are
* a new window
* a new tab in the most recent window
* the most recent tab/window

Oh thank you so much! I knew I had seen that somewhere. Of course all
of the websites I came upon dealt with IE, so all the settings were
located in Windows itself, and didn't effect Firefox.
Thanks!

This might sound odd, but upgrade to Firefox 1.5, it automatically opens
any new link request in a new tab, nice enhancement! :) TTYL

You may want to look into getting the Tabbrowser Preferences plugin for
Firefox, it gives you more control over how the tabs behave.
