'[OT] Online Photo Albumn site'

I have recently been introduced to the Fotki (aka photo) photo sharing
website.

       http://www.fotki.com

Features seem good compared to most.
It has both free and "pro" accounts.
The free version is too hobbled for my liking.

The pro version offers (some features common to free)

- $US50/year
- Unlimited storage
- 2 GB/day upload limit (last weekend's wedding would take 2 days to
upload ;-) ).
- Flexible nested folder system.
- Flexible password access if required.
- Good range of upload options including email, FTP and Browser
integrated uploader.
- 2 weeks free trial of full facility version
- Photo printing portal
- ...

I'll continue to use my own server for non photo applications but due
to the low upload bandwidth available to me I'm inclined to use Fotki
in preference to other offerings.

Any other suggestions that are at least as good? Have a look at the
site first.

I was considering http://www.flickr.com (now Yahoo owned) but it has more
limitations.

Are you aware that on all of these sites you give away your rights to
the picture.  they can use the picture as they want.  anyway that is
what I read on the internet  a couple of years ago and when I read the
terms of use on a couple of sites it stated so.

I've been putting photos on my own server using Gallery (see
http://sujan.hallikainen.org/gallery/). Storage space on my own machine is
CHEAP! True, upload speeds are a bit limited (768bkps).

That is definitely not the case with Fotki and will be variably true
with other sites.

Fotki provides a well controlled access on a folder by folder basis to
those that you want to give access to and it is up to you whether you
retain copyright of some or all of your work.

You can have your pictures entirely private to you if you wish
(subject to the caveats relevant to any any internet connected
computer system).
