'[OT] KibiBytes: not intended for canine consumptio'

Apropos of the Metric System discussion from a few
months ago, it Seems the IEC and IEEE are finally
attempting to do something about the ambiguity in
the meaning of SI prefixes when applied to quantities
of data storage. To quote:
"The new prefixes are kibi (abbreviated Ki) meaning
2^10, mebi (Mi) meaning 2^20, gibi (Gi) meaning 2^30,
tebi (Ti) meaning 2^40, pebi (Pi) meaning 2^50, and
exbi (Ei) meaning 2^60."
Personally, I think that the new prefixes are downright
adorable, and I think we should use them at every
opportunity. They are already an approved IEC standard,
the IEC is presenting them to the IEEE for adoption.

Personally, I think that they'd make excellent names
for Teletubbies.

+AD4-for Teletubbies.
Where do you think they got them from?
