The oli cycle is around 7 to 1 month, more or less.
His first:
[PIC], was Sun, 10 Oct 2004 09:25:53 -0400 (EDT)
[EE], was Mon, 11 Oct 2004 09:53:24 -0400 (EDT)
He usually not appears in [OT] channel, So give to him "hellos" commenting
something about relocatable coding on [PIC],... in favor of, obviously. The
reaction may be unpredictable if you post some in absolute form. :( :(
Dennis Crawley.

Thanks. I signed up again yesterday (Sunday) morning. After James booted
me off, I waited a few days for things to cool down, then sent him a message
admitting in hindsight that I'd made a mistake, but also that I felt he had
been unfair. I was really just trying to point out the humor in that post,
and hadn't intended anyone to get upset. While I should have used more
thought before sending that post, I still feel it was well below the
threshold anyone else ever got booted off the list for. And no, despite
what some people were speculating, I received no warnings or admonishments
from admins or anyone else to any other post I made since I came back to the
list in July.
In my message to James, I offered to stay away for at least a week and when
I did come back, just start replying to messages as usual and not mention
the incident at all (like this message is doing). That way he could have
made his point without my appearing to undermine his authority.
I received no bounce message and no response from James to my private
message. I thought maybe something had changed with the server change, and
tag lines and web pages hadn't been updated yet. After a few more days, I
sent the same message to two other PICList admins, explaining that I had
tried to contact James earlier. Absolutely no response again. At this
point I concluded I was being deliberately ignored.
With being out of town and starting a new job, I didn't have time to deal
with this issue until yesterday morning. The PIClist is a fun diversion,
but I sometimes let it be more of a time sink than I should. I had expected
my original email address to be blocked and to create a yahoo or whatever
account to get back on the PIClist. That is easy to do, yet that thought
had raised the perceived hassle factor over the threshold so that it took me
two weeks to get around to it. Just for the heck of it, I tried my old
address first and the sever let me subscribe, so here I am. I was going to
respond to some of the posts about when I was booted, but seeing as my
address wasn't blocked, I decided not to. I also decided I wasn't going to
mention any of this unless someone else brought it up first.
Yeah, I'm a little pissed at how I was treated, but that's for me to get
over. The admins have the right and duty to police the list, but with that
also comes the responsibility of fairness. Booting me off was excessive use
of force in my opinion, but I guess it made their point from their view.
However, I still don't see the purpose served by ignoring my private
messages. It seems like a personal thing, but there is no conclusive
evidence of that and there could be other explanations.
Anyway, see what I mean about spending more time on the PIClist than I
should ;-)

But what is the waveform? Is it a sawtooth, fed by a constant current of
irritation, untill the capacity of the administrators raises the level
at which their dia(boli)c fires?

Agreed, but (re another thread) everything is relative, so they are also
the only jugde of their fairness, by virtue of the time they spend
keeping this list alive. So right or wrong, we all vote for their
leadership by subscribing the the list (and not voluneering to take
their job). And you Olin, by re-appearing twice, are actually stating
that you value this list (and hence ist admins) quite high :)

<VBG> I know what you mean.
glad to see you back. I did think the admins had been a bit harsh,
considering the response from the other person, however at some point we
have to "take it on the chin, and keep playing."

How do you know this? (I imagine he told you offlist?).
If so, that would be consistent with what the admins said when it happened
last time, UNLESS he was posting via a personal moderator. The prospect of a
personal moderator was raised and the admins suggested that the person who
said he would be willing to do the job should talk to Olin offlist. If that
had not been arranged then there is no publicly known reason to think that
he has since been "unbanned".
They made clear statements in the discussion after the event about what they
had done and its overall status. Olin's latest comments were not in line
with what they had said so, unless there had been some arrangements to the
contrary I imagine that they simply removed his subscription again.

Seems very clear to me. You must have missed his rant

========================================================
I really don't understand that statement at all. Olin's reply ha nothing to do with the other person's response. He made an error in his answer and as usual, Olin found it necessary to make him feel stupid. Has nothing to do with how the OP responded as to whether Olin got bumped again. I can't understand why he keeps coming back??? If the admins bumped me, I'd get the hint the first time.

I would not have called it a rant.
He does say he feels aggrieved at being removed, but accepts the admins
position.
And I have yet to see any mention of the guy who did use some extremely
strong language against Olin at the time he was removed. Was that guy
removed?

True, but think in terms of equality of action. If what really was a mild
reaction to the other person was enough to bump Olin, then the answer that
came back from the other person was surely enough to get them bumped as
well.

I did not see it that way. sometimes I see things here that have me ROTFLMAO
as well, but it just seemed to me that because Olin put the mnemonic in a
mail he got bumped. Yes he has been pretty vitriolic in the past, but that
particular message did not come across to me as anything like that. However
the other person certainly came back with a vitriolic response that would
certainly (in my book at least) match anything Olin was bumped for, and I am
just asking if they also were bumped from the list.

(1) He dared them to ban him.
(2) His actions begged them to ban him.
(3) They banned him.
Olin clearly got banned for "the-straw-that-broke-the-camel's-back."

Oh, no doubt the response to Olin's post was much, much worse and yes he was
removed immediately for it. I just don't understand Olin's need to throw
salt in the wound. But I guess that's what makes the world go round :-)
