Just yesterday I was looking at this issue.
Here are just some of the the sites I visited to learn more.

I need a directional coupler to get power into a power conversion chip and
then send the voltage to the A/D on the PIC.
Unfortunately, I "popped" the chip after a direct connection....which was
wrong.
I want to make one.........and this may actually be a diode or some sort of
close proximity arrangement.
Possibly someone else has a better description.
