Aye.
But classic Frigates didn't have the capability to see eveything
coming as far away as anything can, track more targets than you hope
you'll ever meet, deploy small fast flying things that could have a
nuke in if needs be but that anyway make the size of your guns or
complete lack of them irrelevant - and be able to shoot down
satellites if desired.

"Gunboat diplomacy" with a vengeance.
Lawrence of Arabia had occasional access in the Red Sea to a ship
about in the class of a coastal freighter but with one small gun
mounted. Maybe 2" or not much larger. That made it the local gunboat
with nothing else to usefully oppose it and it was in complete charge
of anywhere within reach of its gun. An Aegis Frigate's "gun" reach is
arguably world wide. "In charge" may be illusory :-(.
