I kinda like these:

I can make them myself minus the perfectly round egg. So here's my idea:

Take a tin can, cut a long strip, bend into a circle, place in pan, pour
egg and cook.

Is there anything wrong with this idea? More specifically, any danger (any
chemicals I'm not aware of) in using an old tin can heated to the
temperature of cooking an egg

It seems the right way to do it. Just don't forget to add a heat
insulated handle.

Probably. The varnish (enamel?) in the inner surface may volatilize or
change composition. It would be better to use stainless steel or a sheet
of aluminum.

They make things specifically designed for this, but if you have
cookie cutters of about the right size they work just as well.

Yup. If you search for "egg ring", you'll find all sorts of designs including
cute hearts and ones shaped like a slice of bread, as well as the usual
egg McMuffin type. There are stainless, non-stick coated, and silicone.
Since eggs tend to stock, the non-stick or silicone should be less trouble.
Many are equipped with handles.

I'm restraining myself from the obvious one liner, that would be viewed dimly by many, but with my school cap on has me chortling into my Horlicks.

Seriously - I have some egg rings - and the egg always sticks to them no matter what I do, even getting the cat to pre lick them doesn't work!
