'[OT] Automotive Design newsletter'

I was hoping that other PICListers could help me out here. Gosh, I've been
going absolutely nuts trying to subscribe to the EE Times newsletters over
the past couple of days. One of them should be coming from this header:
'spam_OUTfrom_AutomotiveDesignlineTakeThisOuT
newsletter.designlinenetwork.com'
I signed up for most of the EE Times newsletters that they offer, but have
not received anything at all. After going back and forth with the company
that sends out the e-mail newsletters and with my ISP, my ISP claims the
following:
===
I have ran a check on that newsletter domain, and find that they are
listed on many commonly ISP used Black Lists. They were positive on the
following lists:
@ISP/blackholes.us
@SPAM/spamsource
DRBL/drbl.all
SPEWS/spews.org
FIVETEN/doublelick.net.bulk
INTERSIL/flowgo.bulk
This means that you are probably not the only person that is not
receiving these newsletters. Sometimes a newsletter site is placed on a
black list by mistake, but when they are listed on numerous black lists
that are used by a multitude of different ISP's, we are unable to allow
email to come through from that site. The support center of the
newsletter would have to individually contact each of these black lists,
and prove that they are sending legitimate expected emails, and not
spam. If you can forward this to someone at your newsletter you have
signed up with, they may be able to take care of this. If you have any
questions for me, please let me know.
===
Is anyone else having trouble receiving the various EE Times e-mail
newsletters?
Thanks for anyone's feedback on this.
Best regards,
Ken Pergola

It looks like your mail provider will not allow you to disable their spam
blocking services so, you are probably stuck changing to another provider if
you want EE times newsletters.
You could try telling EE Times about the problem but they have probably
already unsuccessfully tried to get off the spam lists. I know our IT guys
have never been able to get our domain off all of the spam lists.
Your provider is also changing your outgoing address to:
".....no_spamKILLspam
@spam@localnet.com".

Or about one of the free email services that allows standard POP access (so
that you can set up your email program to fetch the messages just like with
your main account)?

Hello to you all, and thanks for responding to my post. I'm sorry I have not
replied to your posts in a timely fashion -- I've been away from the
computer for a few days. I just wanted to thank you all for taking the time
to respond and for offering your help.
Yes, I'm currently in contact with a person involved in the EE Times
newsletters. It's unfortunate that their domain has appeared on a few SPAM
black lists -- forgive me if I'm using the wrong terminology here. My hopes
is that they can get removed from the two lists my ISP uses for incoming
e-mail, but if not, I'll pursue your suggestions.
Aside:
Paul, I just wanted to clarify a point you made. That e-mail address of mine
you mentioned in a previous post is actually a real e-mail address that I
chose -- sorry if that caused any confusion. The 'no_spam' part is
intentional and is part of the e-mail address -- I chose it in hopes to
remove spam, but sometimes it backfires on me because some people think that
they need to delete the 'spam' part, and if they do, I'll never receive the
e-mail. I've had a few people tell me that they sent me mail, but after
checking my inbox, I find no record of their mail.
Thank you all for your help. It's either the newsletters service gets
removed from those lists or I use your suggestions.
Best regards,
Ken Pergola

Could you please tell me which free email service allows standard POP
access?
I sure would like free POP access.

I don't use free email that much anymore (not at all, in fact :) and what I
still knew from when I did seems not to be working anymore. A bit of
googling turned up this page though:
http://www.emailaddresses.com/email_pop.htm . It may help you out, in
addition to the Google email account for which invitations frequently are
offered here.
