I've been trying to locate an explanation of exactly what is SelCall tones.
Most searches come up with firms and products, but haven't located a
real definition.  Anyone have one? Sure...there is  PIC in this design... :-)

It is an abreviation of the words Selective Calling and covers
a wide range of applications.  Older pagers used to use this method
and there are still many such systems in use.  The idea is to send one
or more tones in a sequence or in groups like musical chords.  All the
tones go out over the same wire or radio frequency, but each receiver
is equipped with filters to listen for only their own tone or tones.
The receiver is silent during all other tones that are meant for other
receivers.

Commercial aircraft use a system which pilots actually call
"SelCall" in which ground controllers can alert individual planes by
sending what sounds like two musical chords.  Each chord is two
distinct tones.

Motorola and Plectron are two companies that have made SelCall
systems for all kinds of business and public safety uses in the past.

FYI, just another bounced E-mail.  A very polite one I might add.

Actually, these are DTMF tones.  I had made this kind of product with a PIC
(for tx) and a motorola decoder in it.  Most VHF and UHF transceivers
available uses a 7 tone call sequence.  The first 3 is the other party's
code followed by * (asterisk) and the last 3 is the caller's code which is
optional.

Sel Call stands for Selective Calling as used as a form of sub-audible
signalling used in telecommunications systems (particularly radio).  These
systems transmit a series of audio tones with the speech signal but below the
normal audio speech bandwidth so that they are removed by filters in the
receiver before being amplified by the af stages.  The tones are used to un-
mute the audio squelch system in radio's allowing certain selected system
users to hear the transmission.  Such systems are commonly used in aircraft
communication systems so that certain planes can hear only the transmission
destined to that plane.

Hope this helps.
