'[OT] AVG rant'

Paid almost a $1000 for two years of AVG support for our company after many
recommendations. For anyone else who is thinking about it, let me share my
experience, copied from the email I just sent:
I have SO had it with this program. I will never recommend AVG again. Your
support is abysmal, the program is buggy and I'm tried of being screwed
over. I will be copying this to my web site and emailing it to anyone who
asks about anti-virus. If you don't resolve this issue, I will request a
refund and peruse it to court if necessary. I'm serious, I'VE HAD IT!
Every weekend when I'm away from the office, AVG on my laptop starts
reporting "AVG License Error - License number could not be fully verified"
and I am left without support. Away from the office, I don't have access to
the license number which is kept in our files and on the server, so I can't
even contact support. Why don't you allow me access to the license number
that couldn't be verified? How am I supposed to contact support with out it?
The first time this happened, I did not use my laptop for the rest of the
weekend, then I reinstalled AVG when I got back to the office. The problem
appeared to be solved, but the next weekend, after being away from the
office for a day, it happened again.
Obviously, the issue has nothing to do with a "corrupted installation" as
the error screen advises and more to do with AVG being out of the corporate
network.
Searching your support FAQ for this error message comes up with NOTHING! How
can that be, when the error message in the program says "This error is
usually caused by a corrupted installation?" The people who wrote the
program obviously felt it was an FAQ issue, so why isn't it in your FAQ?
On top of this issue, your support people still have not responded to the
other technical problems I've reported from the office regarding pop-up
notifications of cookies being blocked when we have configured the program
NOT to pop up notifications at all!
And then there is the issue of trying to figure out how to configure AVG
Firewall to allow our programs to work...
WHAT DID WE SPEND ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR?
Tell me how to fix this license issue or refund our purchase.

Umm, just check out the support problems with Eset - mind you, why not
copy your licence details which came in an email onto your laptop?
I used to find AVG would lose track of our server and so remote acces
and rule updating never worked properly. However the Server was a
dodgy bit of tat so I wasn't confident we didn't have a server
problem.
I believe mint r ginger tea is good for calming.
