I need to measure weights in the interval 500 grams to 7000 grams with a
resolution of +/-50 grams with an intelligent electronic device. Any
suggestions!?

There are already many devices on the market that can can read in the
interval that you want with a 1 gram resolution.  They pretty much all use
strain gages the sense the weight. Carefull if you plan to build your own.
Drift (thermal, voltage, etc.) can throw off your reading if you don't build
it correctly.
