Here is a new drive from Toko that will handle up to 4 white LED's.  It
maintains up to 80% efficiency.  This is from an ad in the May 2001
Electronic Products, page 10.  You can read more about it at http://www.ictoko.com

This chip uses PWM to provide brightness control and constant color balance.

This one looks more useful to us (Pic'rs) than the MAX1848 - Maxim warns against
hand and wave soldering, and the MAX1848 has a lower max voltage in.

Hmmm, no hand soldering, no wave soldering.

Gotta ask - Do they recommend attaching it to your board with screws, nails,
or glue? :=)

I was planning to use itty bits of the Maxim Brand aluminium sticky tape

But anyway, so far in this far-flung colony I've not found the Toko
distributor, just a Japanese e-mail address for servicing SE Asia.
Arrow do Maxim and they're up the road

It's a technique synthesized from the first two:

Hand Waving.
