In a thread that wandered off topic a while back, someone posted a
website that had recent satellite images of anywhere you wanted to
look. Enter the zipcode, etc.

Does someone have the website name ?

Steve.

The earliest one I remember is microsoft's teraserver
(http://www.teraserver.com/ )

It seems to be a bit slow at the moment.  I'm looking for my house right
now.

1.    One such is

   http://www.terraserver.microsoft.com

Data capacity is SAID to exceed that of all the rest of the web combined.

2,     More limited but useful is NASA's repository of shuttle photos.

not sure why, but I assumed "recent" might mean *very* recent - like
today, or something similarly big-brotherish.  checked terraserver
out of curiosity - "recent" apparently only means within the last
several years.  I guess this means global monitoring is somewhere
else...
