Anyone else having delays with microchip samples?
Just realized I requested some stuff on the 25th
of last month and it still shows pending.

You know, I had some stuff that was delayed almost 4 months, but it
finally showed.  So it will show eventually.  Best thing to do is hop on
the purchase site, and look at the availability of the parts you requested.

This came up and was discussed recently.  It turns out that if a single
item in a multi-part sample request is "backordered" (I think the
samples department and SEs get low priority and perhaps an allocation),
it will hold up your whole request.  I had ordered 4 parts, and
contacted my "official" company rep when they were delayed.  She got me
the parts except for one that was "delayed" - sure enough, I got email
from her and from the sample program at the same time, saying that the
request had finally shipped and that the parts were in...

There doesn't seem to be a way to cancel sample orders, so I wound up
with more than I expected :-)

(This implies that if you need samples FAST, you should only request
one type per request, or talk to a local rep.  That's sort of annoying
from a shipping efficiency point of view, but I guess that's
microchip's problem, and I'm not really going to criticize a generous
sampling program very much :-)

yes, depending on the chip.  i ordered some samples almost a month ago
and they came 2 days after the samples i'd requested just about a week
before.  obviously depends on availability though their notification
system could use some work, then again they might cut down on the
excessive packaging, though i like the box an oversized padded envelope
inside an oversized fedex envelope is a bit much, as is 3 packing slips.
then again, i do like the box inside the bag, makes a great to keep
parts related to a project or other later use (hey, i love small boxes!).
