Hello

I have an older version of Protel schematic board layout software. I have tried it some and wanted to print out a layout I have created but can't find a way to print it. Anyone using this older DOS version and printing out drawings???

Thanks in advance

The old Protel had a separate "plot" program, traxplot.exe.
I found that you got better results if you 'plotted' with an HP7470 to a file
then ran a  conversion program (name forgotten) which generated PCL for the
printer. The HPlsr300.drv was pretty poor at getting a good solid plot, partly
because it insisted on having A4 paper (Protel was written in Austrailia).

Hi Bill,

If you are using 'Easytrax' then youneed to use 'Easyplot' to print
them. You can't print from within Easytrax.

"Proper" method is to use the included TRAXPLOT program.

A good alternative if using Windoze is to use Alt-PrntScreen and then paste
the result to a suitable application - I use the free and brilliant
IrfanView (http://www.Irfanview.com). If you set the lines to black and the
background to white before you do the screen capture you get a very nice
drawing which can be converted to a GIF or most anything else by Irfanview.

get hpj2pcx.exe from

http://www.kitsrus.com/projects/hpj2pcx.exe

read about it at

http://www.kitsrus.com/general.html

I use it all the time for overlays and schematics since I am still using
Protel for DOS. We have never seen any reason to upgrade from it. Using the
traxplot drivers as originally supplier are poor and to thin.
