OCT 31 = DEC 25

There are 10 kinds of people in the world,
those who understand binary and those who don't.

For those who have trouble with these statements,
remember 10 in binary = 2 in decimal.

Hex, my personal favorite :)
Actually OCTal is not used much today, but I was working on a project that required 3 bits for address and 3 bits for data.
So I decided to pack each into a nibble along with a parity bit and send a single 8 bit byte with parity checking for address and parity checking for data.
This way if the data is corrupted but has a correct address parity, only the addressed transceiver need NAK and the others can ignore. But if the addresses parity doesn't match, the originating transceiver must wait and failing to see an ACK or a NAK resend.
