I just passed my checkride! For those of you that have visited my flight page: http://www.barrymichels.com/flight I now have something to update it with! When I get back from the 2-day trip I got planned for tomorrow... Now, I have more time to spend developing pic-related projects. So far, I've only built a g-meter & level. Using Analog Devices' ADXL202 (I think that's the part #) 2-axis accelerometer. The top line of the 2x16 LCD is a +/- 2g vertical axis indicator and the bottom line is a bubble level < O > Are there any other pilots on this list? Still "flying high" over it ;-) Started aerobatic lessons and will get night VFR when I can afford it. There are a few former student pilots - as I was one. I wanted the taste of the left seat and got it through some flight instruction 20 plus years ago. It was a thrill - taking off from Addison field then heading south over I-635 (the loop around Dallas) - I still remember takeoffs when the "wheel" begins to become live (exhibit force from the control surfaces) as one headed down the runway. For weeks after that I felt I only had to pull back slightly on my car's steering wheel somewhere above 70 MPH to accomplish the same thing that the Cessna 150 did! RF Jim {Original Message removed}

I was in Dallas on a business trip 3 weeks ago. The closest class B airspace to me is Philadelphia and takes about 30 minutes to reach. So, I rented a plane from Addison and a local instructor showed me the ropes in that area. After 2 touch-n-go's in Spinx (I think that's the spelling), we got clearance to fly right over the top of DFW at 3,000 feet! I had the video camera ready and got some footage while the instructor did the flying back to Addison. What a day! Oh boy, I feel a new wave of PIC-aircraft-cruise-control discussions coming on. :-) Congrats on the license! Awesome feeling isn't it? I've got my PPL about 12 years ago and instrument about 5 ago. Also did most of my CPL, and was looking at my logbook this weekend, realizing I need only 4 hrs and 2 x-ctry's to go for the CPL. The intention was to get my CFI so that I could find an excuse to fly more. So what's the state of GA nowadays since everything went haywire last year? I must say, the Citabria doesn't compare to the Pitts.... what a riot! I LOVE IT! I'm going on a short trip over to the Pittsburg, PA area to pick up a friend that's visiting from Georgia. Then taking him back next weekend. Things are pretty much the way they were before, except for a few flight restrictions. There's more urgency for keeping up with information and not doing anything stupid. On a x-country back in March, I flew over the Pottstown-Limrick nuclear power plant at 6,500 ft. Looked right down the cooling towers... It's ok, as long as I didn't circle & decend or linger.
