Yep - got it as well.  Thanks for identifying the source.  Now, can someone
tell me how can I *really* cause them grief?  Closing down their web site
would be nice . . .

I concur with Dwayne's sentiment. I have better

I got it too. Interesting to spot a reference to Interphase in this junk
mail too, after their apparent recent PIClist spamming.

Yes... :/

I have replied with 'remove' as subject, as stated in the end of that letter.  I´ll see if that helps, but I don´t like to be spammed in the first place.

I thought the common 'reply with remove in the subject to be removed from this list' was just a scam
to generate a list of 'confirmed active' email addresses. I just delete any spam I get as I go
through my emails. Takes maybe 10 seconds total each day. I find snail-mail spam far more irritating
because of the environmental cost.

Simon

That is correct, and I never ansver on spam mail first time from one sender.
However, as this is the second mail I got, it seems like I am already on their list of working adresses.

Anyway, as their spamserver did not get "mailbox does not exist" or similar error from my ISP when they sent their mail first time, they can conclyde my mailbox exist wether i respond or not.

Idea:  wonder if we can fake "mailbox does not exist" messages in response to spam?  Maybe even automate using filters + standard replies or something.

> I just delete any spam I get as I go

Yep, but then I am irritated and disturbed for five minutes...

Uh, and now I keep spending time on discussing the crap... ;)

I have filters salvaging incoming mails from known-good senders (such as this list) into respecitve folders, and then there is junk mail left between inquiries from first time customers etc, and I don´t want to delete those mails by mistake.

Hi,

You want to try Freeserve out (or not, as the case may be).......I got an
autoreply message in *my* inbox stating that a list of email addresses
could not be reached with an attached "get rich quick scheme" crock; this
spam originated from *my* email account! I complained. Did I get a reply?
Nope.

Don't you just love the customer service line that these companies promote
then do FA about.?

Spamtastic.

I got it.  I just started my new job here a few weeks ago.  The PIClist is
the ONLY place I've sent e-mail to that even remotely has a possibility of
causing this.

Actually it's worse - it's a common known fact they send the mails "everywhere", and keep in the database the ones who reply - they "exist".
