'[OT]: LOGIC GATE SWITCH'

I am working on a device where I need to have two digital inputs and one
output.  I need to select one or the other of the inputs to be on the
output.  The 74HCT157 quad data selector is almost perfect, but a little
large for the board.  Does anyone know of something similar in an 8 pin
DIP package?  All I need is one switch.  Yes, I know I could easily use
a couple of transistors, but I would rather use a logic chip.

Why not use an SMT 74HCT157 ? That would be smaller
than the footprint for an 8-pin dip

Another option could be Picogate, although you may have
problems getting one or two, unless you know a mftr who
could slip you a few off a reel

Needs to be a thru-hole.  I did manage to squeeze a 14 pin 157 in, but a
one or two gate version could come in handy for future projects.

How much latency can you tolerate.  Quite frankly, the easiest 8 pin DIP
solution is a 12c508.  But that will incur a 3 uS delay.  Otherwise, a SO
'157 is not much larger than an 8 pin DIP.
