'[OT]: Info on out of production IC's?'

Hi all,

I'm looking for websites / references / etc.  I have a ton of IC's that are
no longer in production - some I have been able to locate info about - but
many have been very difficult to get info / data sheets for.

does anyone have any good resources they care to share?

I've been to chipcenter, but a lot of these ###'s aren't showing up in their
list.

IC Master has been a bit better, but many links to PDF files are now bad.

I'd really love to find out which of these chips are really worth saving.

thanks in advance!!

-Tony

Anything you scrounge up is worth something to someone. An IC is a terrible
thing to waste. If you don't want some, I'll buy/trade/beg them off of you.

This probably won't give you enough info to make a real decision, but it
may at least give you some info.
Chipdir - http://www.xs4all.nl/~ganswijk/chipdir/

Hope that helps,

ROFL - actually, so far, I want many of them - some are questionable if they
are even useable (ie: figured out they are PROM chips, but I don't know if
they have already been burned, or even how to check - heck, I can't even
find the pinouts yet ;).

So far they have ranged from mid 70's to late 90's, including RAM drivers,
opto-isolators, bus controllers, line drivers, etc. but many I just don't
know yet.  I'm hoping some of the sites that were suggested might offer some
insight as to what these chips are, and possibly point me to a datasheet.

I tried a few searches, and so far that site has helped me out a bit - at
least I've been able to determine what a few chips *are* - now I just need
to figure on how to use them :)  Thanks for the link, plus they seem to have
many links on their site as well - so it is a good resource!

I haven't had a chance to try these yet, but I wanted to say thanks for the
list - I kinda ran short on time this morning and hope to try them this
afternoon.
