'[OT]: DOS based Voice Recognition'

Hi all. I've got an older pentium 60 based computer that's sitting
mostly idle. I think it would be cool to experiment with it with some
voice recognition. For stability, I'd like to stay away from windows if
possible. Has anyone seen anything DOS based, and preferably cheap/free?
I searched the archives, but most of the data is about using a PIC for
recognition (BTW did anyone ever get that working?), or some windows
based software. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Josh Koffman

The first "Dragon Dictate" versions were DOS based.
Superb performance for their time - utterly eclipsed by current offerings.
They initially used a special IBM DSP sound card .
The software was very expensive but if you can find a used version it would
be of no commercial value given current alternatives and costs.
