I need some help from PICLISTers from Budapest - some addresses where
can I buy some components like 29C040/29F040, LM2936Z-5 etc. Companies
similar to the Microchip distributor CHIPCAD with web site and pricelist
would be perfect.

TIA,

Djula

Last time I was there (a LONG time ago) the best I could do was scare up some
dusty Tesla (that's the manufacturer's name) parts in a little shop somewhere.

I'm sure things have improved greatly.

We did some prototype stuff for the GM plant in Szentgotthard and ran into
needing some parts too.  Shipping was going to take to long (our stuff is
probably still in customs).  We finally found a computer shop that did
equipment repairs in Robafusia? (I'm sure that's very mis-spelled).  I'm
surprised that Budapest doesn't have something more useful though.  'O
course, I have to order most things from the shop here, now that the local
Jim-pak moved out.  There's always radio shack, haha.  :')

Budapest is occupied only 20 pct of inhabitants in Hungary. There are a
lot of another towns, even villages. The cited question makes about as
many sense as the following:

       No PICLISTers in Washington? Please?

Please do not intermix a country with its capital, even if latter is a
water-head.

Another PICLISTers may treat this as a kindly invitation: in the case if
they intent to visit Hungary, please do not restrict this to the capital
city (I am also living in Pecs, 200 km south from that).

Regards,

Imre

Hi guys,

Is it not possible to order online from suppliers such as RS and the like?
Will they not deliver all across Europe? Forgive me if I ask stupid
questions.

Incidentally, I am planning on travelling to Hungary this summer on holiday.
(I'm from Northern Ireland.) I am planning to visit both Budapest and Pecs
(well, at least travel through Pecs).

Regards,
Paul

Almost none of the online suppliers is willing to ship to Yugoslavia...
Maybe the vast amount of credit card fraud which has been done here in the
past has something to do with it (among the other issues... ) Well, what
goes arround, comes arround.

Have you already tried "http://www.conrad.hu".
(just fine for small quantities, for larger ones conrad is to expensive)

Conrad here in Austria has i.e. the 29F040 (Conrad order-no: 16 74 95-88) in
there catalogue.

Hi,

the question is not so stupid at all. Unfortunately, at smaller
(physical/financial) amount the additional costs such as shipment,
customs, and tax (25%) do make the biz rather inefficient. BTW Europa's
biggest supplier Conrad Electronics has also a subsidiary in Budapest so
one can order from them. Sorry, they cumulate the costs mentioned above in
the DM/Ft conversion factor; it is about 1.5 times higher than the
official change rate. Another suppliers (especially specific ones, or
representing only a small amount of manufacturers) are much
better. E. g. ChipCAD (representative of MicroChip) sells a 16F877 for
about $5.

FYI.

BTW, I can only recommend to make at least a short stop at Pecs. It is one
the nicest town of Hungary and there are here some ancient churches and
archeological founds which were declared as the part of the World
Inheritance.

Regards,

Imre
