if your car is expensive / fast / flash enough that someone might actually want to steal it, as
opposed to steal from it, then get a decent immobiliser & alarm fitted 'professionally'. this should
mean you pay a little less insurance.

if people are just stealing _from_ your car then;
- never leave anything obviously in your car
- use a crook-lock or other similar garishly painted physical anti-theft device... if a thief sees
one of those in your car, they may just assume you are too careful to leave anything worth stealing
in your car
- fit a simple flashing led to the dash, and add some stickers (or 'decals' if you prefer)
advertising your car as alarmed... at night when the thief is on the prowl they may just go for your
neighbour's car instead of risking setting off an alarm.

regards,
Simon

Always park your cheap easily broken into car that contains no useful/visible
etc items close to an expensive car that probably does contain useful/desirable
items.

Hey, has anyone tried to wire one of them teargas cartridges (the kind you
buy for panic sprays) to a car alarm ? I understand the french guy got
locked away for the bayonet and releasing pepper gas into the car might
not be very good either, so maybe 'standard' teargas + very strong light ?
Or blow the airbag on the driver side when thief very close to wheel (just
kidding).

In the late 1980's  I read about a district in Sydney, Austraila that was
having a terible time with car crime. so somebody got a small amount of
explosive and wired it to the glovebox. this was done to a number of car's
bought from a scrap yard.
Joyriders could take the car and if a bad guy takes a loof in the glovebox.
Bang!

now a Joke for Jinks.
who was elevated to captian by Dame Michaels....

Car comes to a halt late one night, and in the dark the driver call's the
auto club on his cell phone.
In the dark he miss dials and get's M$ support line,
he say's to Support "It just stoped dead not going anywhere" to that the guy
in support say's "have you any window's open? if so close all windows then
Open them again and every thing will be fine"
