James,
Don't think I like it - just tried i2c and pic, and neither flew.
BTW, I realize how difficult it would be to totally cross-reference
techref - ie, to build a comprehensive index - but I wonder that
you couldn't easily put in a list of 100 or so "keywords", one of
who's selection who "automatically" evoke the search engine to
find references.
This would provide an implicit cross-reference, and should take
essentially no work to implement [possibly an invalid assumption].
I want people to add their own definitions and new words and links and
stories about words and etc... Words can be fun and people shouldn't miss
out on words like:
Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who
doesn't get it. Get it? its a combination of sarcastic and chasm!
Or just fun definitions of existing words like:
Normal: A normal man can run a 6 minute mile but the average man cannot.
In the future, the "add a comment" etc... form at the PICList site will
spell check the text and try to link any uncommon words to existing page on
the site. If you type "This type of multi-drop network lends itself to
RS-485."
The spell check will toss all the words except "multi-drop" and "RS-485."
I will then do a page title search for *multi-drop* and *RS-485* which will
return records for pages related to that subject from the site. I will then
link those words to the best match of those pages. Any words that don't
match a dictionary word or a title word will get a little superscript "?"
after them with a link to an asp page that will suggest a correct spelling
(future project), do a full text search for that word on existing pages, and
offer a text box to write a definition of the word if it is, in fact,
correctly spelled and new to the site.
Well, how about an index of the site, along the lines
of what I mentioned?

But I hope we'll be able to tell the source of a definition so
we know how much to beleive.
