'[OT]: 3-wire and SPI: What's the diff?'

Hi everyone,
I am looking at some of the serial EEPROMs from Atmel. Some of them have
the SPI interface type and some of them have the 3-wire interface type. I
read the specs of these 2 interfaces and I can't see any differences.
Are 3-wire and SPI interface the same thing? If not, how are they
different?
Thank you.
Thomas

I believe that you would increase the response rate if you quoted
actual part numbers.
