One of the ME's at work sent this to us computer geeks - I'd never
seen it before - I thought it was wonderful:

There are 10 types of people in this world, those who can read binary
and those who can't.

Wrong! There are 3 kind of people: those who can count and those
who can't.

using 0 to represent nothing?  Can you think of a better way?  How would you
do it? :-)

The Romans never worked out the advantages of doing it at all !!!
Hence their arcane numbering scheme.

Three IS eleven in base 2.
Or, should that be, eleven is three in base 2?
Or .........

Lessee -
nought, one, ten, eleven, one hundred, one hundred and one, one hundred and
ten, one hundred and eleven, one thousand, ... .

Of course, it may well be argued that the NAMES of the whole powers of the
base in the decimal based system implicitly specify the base.
