'[OT]: Elektor magazine OBD-II'

Howdy folks,

Somehow managed to find myself in, of all places, India,
where I picked up the January copy of Elektor Electronics.
This is an Indian version in all English, but with all Indian
ads.  And I paid only Rs. 45 for it, which is about US$0.95.
Interestingly, the content is the same as the Oct 2002
edition of the UK version.

Here's the prob... (there's always a prob isn't there? :-)...

I am desperate to get my hands on the 2nd part of the OBD-II
article, which seems to be in the Nov 2002 UK edition.
but it's not available on the website.  There's the PCB and
some "additional info", the latter of which results in some
error.  But I doubt the article would be there.

There's also no info on purchasing back-issues.  While I wait
for some response to the email I sent them, I thought I'd ask
here to see if someone know where I can get this back issue.

Also, any idea of where/how to subscribe to this mag in the
US?

Cheers,
-Neil.

Best bet is to subscribe via the website or you could try
Old Colony Sound Lab,
P.O. Box 876,
Peterborough,
NH 03458-0876

Tel.: 603 924-6371, 924-6526.
Email.: spam_OUTcustservTakeThisOuTspamaudioXpress.com

However I think this might be for PCBs and CD's only.

The back issues are only done on a yearly CD as far as I know. My yearly CD will arrive in March, so if you remind me then, you can either have the printed version sent to you -(you pay postage) or I could email the relevant PDF or you can buy the CD.

The chip is a PIC that has been 'rommed' and masked by the look of things.

I have always been a few Dendrites short of an Axon and believe me it shows.

If you find such information, please share it!  I would like
to be able to read the OBD data from my car.

Thanks in advance,
Brian Smith

Borders Books carries Elektor in many US cities.  Also,
you might find that it's among the periodicals carried at
the local university or college (if they have an EE
program or similar).

Neil,

If you are unable to find Nov2002 UK issue, let me know.
I can scan and email the article from Feb 2003 issue (Indian) when it is
out.

Vyas.

Elm electronics sells a PIC that will allow you to access
OBD-II via RS-232, and there's another company (I forget
who) that makes a board using the elm chip and software
that you can put on your laptop.
