I've had them screw up exactly one time.  Sent a very critical check FedEx
P1...  didn't arrive the next morning.  Tried to track it with my airbill
number, they said it didn't exist.  Took the airbill down to the local
FedEx office, they couldn't explain it and started investigating while I
sent another check P1.  Of course I also had to contact the bank to issue
a stop payment on the check.

Several days later here comes the overnight envelope with the check.  It
had been found in some remote sorting center with no trace of how it got
there, but there was some adhesive goo on the outside.  Near as we could
figure it got stuck to the bottom of another package and didn't fall off
until it got to where they found it.  Needless to say I didn't get charged
for that one or the replacement.  I'd classify it as a "freak accident".
