Helpful if you add email and name in 1st 2 lines - replace what's there.
Leave line 3 = _Chinacalling.
None of the above   may be essential :-).

'[OT]:: China Calling'

1. I'll have a day and a night in Shanghai on entering China.
Leaving NZ late Friday. Arrive Shanghai 8amish Saturday.
Part of a day or just possibly several days in Shanghai area on exiting.

Any sensible suggestions on things worth seeing doing there either when
whistlestopping or if one had a few days.

I've transited a few times but always there for only part of a day.

The 430 kph maglev is a must-ride (I managed 3 times in one day once due to
happenstance :-) ).

I've been up the tower, admired the Bund, seen both airports (do you know
where YOUR plane is leaving from? - whoops!   ...),...

I intend to go by bus to Ningbo in order to cross the 35 km bay bridge.

2.  Any ideas re electronics and photography shopping locales in Shanghai?
Second hand camera shops would be of interest. (eg Hong Kong has some
superb 2nd hand camera shops but I didn't find them till after many visits
despite internet searches).

3. Anyone who wishes is welcome to be added to my Random Musings
email/photo list. Leave any time, no spam  etc. Sometimes interesting
comment, sometimes not. Photos range from quirky to interesting to
occasionally pretty. Contact me offlist if interested. If you have asked to
be on the list and haven't seen anything in the last month or so please ask
again.

In "old" Shanghai have you visited the Yue Garden which is located nearby the Bund. there are a few old streets worth visiting.
If you have more time available, you could go to Suzhou, Tongli or Zhouzhuang which are well worth visiting
If you have a few days, go to Hangzhou

I have never seen anything outstanding, but I may have not looked in the right place
